When a new person joins a CENPA group, whether they're a staff member, graduate or undergraduate student, postdoc, intern, or volunteer, their supervisor should email Angela Lawson (Administrator). This email should contain the following information:
A digital photo for the photo board. The Admin Team will be happy to take such a picture if needed.
The supervisor and new personnel must review and sign the New Employee Safety Orientation document.
Separately, the new person will also need safety training. The new person's supervisor should identify the hazards associated with their job position and determine the necessary training in consultation with the safety officer. Also - use the UW EH&S lab safety matrix for determining additional hazards and associated training. The new person should be introduced to the Doug Will - safety officer; that way they will know someone they can approach with safety concerns. If the new person will be spending significant time at CENPA, they should be introduced at Monday meeting as well. Of course, the supervisor should acquaint the new person with relevant CENPA rules and norms, should give them an orientation to the lab space where they will work, and should refer them to this Guide. Please also have them familiarize themselves with this presentation on CENPA safety.
If the new person is not already affiliated with UW, we will need to create a UW NetID so that they can access UW EH&S safety training materials (and so that we can track their training). This page gives the UW procedure for sponsoring a UW NetID.
This information is needed for everyone at CENPA, whether they get a key or not.
